My Story
My lifetime has been connected to dance in one form or another. From a pre schooler I was dancing around the room desperate to start ballet classes. From 7-17y I danced my way through the levels completing Intermediate RAD Ballet and Solo Seal NZAMD Jazz, as well as competing in competitions across the country.
My mum always made my costumes, and before I knew it I was making my own daughter’s too. Researching, designing and developing the story or feeling of a dance through the costume has always been something I wished I could do full time. It has only taken 40 years, but I am finally here.
Tutus with Aroha started in 2015 as a side to help other dancers as well as my own feel good about what they were wearing, and getting the colour and style choices they wanted. I have learnt a lot along the way, and continue to search for new techniques and skills to improve.
I hope that by working together we achieve everything we need to from the style, cost, and great feeling you get when you wear a costume that has been made with only you in mind.
